5.3 – Concept diagram – Art versus Photography

This diagram summarises the thinking which painters and photographers demonstrate in their work.

Both painters and photographers can select and arrange a scene.

Only painters can display differential analysis.

Only photographers can provide a credible record of a scene. This can be faked by manipulation. If the manipulation is skilfully done, the photograph remains visually credible.
